Havering´s mayor was caught relaxing in the bath - but this wasn´t a prying paparazzi picture.
Instead Mayor Cllr Wendy Brice-Thompson was on hand to help a bathroom store raise money for charity. The Mayor and Cllr Frederick Thompson were at The Bathroom Shop in High Street, Hornchurch, last Thursday, to draw raffle tickets.
A whopping £6,000 was raised from the raffle and will be donated to rainbow Kidz, a charity that hopes to build a pre-school for disadvantaged children in Grahamstown, South Africa.
Top prizes included a Jacuzzi, a dining room suite and a digital camera. Tickets for the raffle cost £2 and the draw took place during a cheese and wine evening at the shop.
Managing Director Paul Khan said: "People have been very generous, not only purchasing the raffle tickets, but also donating money." The shop held the fundraiser to celebrate 18 years in Hornchurch.
